“To restore in man the image of his Maker… This is the object of education, the great object of life.”
Ellen G. White, Education (1903)
“We allow no separation to grow up between the intellectual and ‘spiritual’ life of children, but teach them that the Divine Spirit has constant access to their spirits, and is their Continual Helper in all the interests, duties and joys of life.”
Charlotte Mason, A Philosophy of Education
We promise to strive for that kind of education for every child we teach: to know each one by name, to set living ideas before them, and to partner with every family along the way.
It started at our own kitchen table.
During the pandemic we began teaching our own children at home, using the Charlotte Mason philosophy we both believed in. A few homeschooling families asked if their children could join. Then a few more. Before long there were about fifteen children learning together.
That small community is the whole idea behind the Hub: certified teachers, real books, time outside, and children who are known by name.
We did not set out to build a school. We set out to teach our children well, and other families asked to come along.
The feel of Virtue, in seven films.
Living books. The nature table. Paint on paper. The trail behind the trees. One to one. The pods. A place to belong.
Two Ontario Certified Teachers. One family.
Kinda leads the Hub, with more than fifteen years of teaching experience. She and Dwayne are both Ontario Certified Teachers, and together they have taught in classrooms, taught their own children at home, and built a small learning community that grew by word of mouth.
When you call, you reach one of them. Every family meets Kinda and Dwayne before they join.
